“The Last Airbender” update! Young Aang Role Introduced, plus Noah Ringer's Picture!!! - 1/3

Apparently, in M.Night's upcoming adaption of our beloved show, there will be the role of "Young Aang." Or at least a younger Aang than Noah Ringer's Aang. What does this mean for the story? Will M.Night's movie possibly have more depth than the show itself?! Maybe we might see a little more into the origins of Aang besides his "The Storm" flashbacks such as seeing more of a pre-Avatar Aang. Well, in any case, I'm even more excited for the movie now. Here is the article where I found this (in the article, there are 3 pictures of the actor auditioning for the role of "Young Aang").

In other “The Last Airbender” news, it appears I have actually found a younger picture of the very elusive Noah Ringer in the depths of the internet! (aka the Texan karate boy playing Aang in the live action movie) The picture matches a textual description given by one of Noah’s instructors, just except he’s younger in the picture, has a different haircut, and doesn’t have his black belt yet in the picture. Also, a member of AP, whom is very very trustworthy, had seen a video of Noah Ringer competing in some karate competition on youtube. However, that video was taken down (most likely by Paramount). I showed the picture to the guy who had watched the video and he says aside from him looking younger, having a brown belt, and having a bowl cut haircut, it’s appears to be the very same Noah Ringer he saw in the video!

Viacom and Time Warner Bury the Hatchet! - 1/1/09

Holy cow it's a new year. And as a special New Year's present for all you Time Warner cable owners (I am myself at college), Viacom will NOT BE BLACKED OUT! Details are found here from MSNBC.

For those who didn't know before, Viacom had threatened to pull its channels from Time Warner and Bright House cable. This included Nick, Comedy Central, MTV, and several other networks. This would have come into effect at midnight EST today, was delayed, and eventually solved! Thank god for RSS feeds on MSNBC to find this gem.

Enjoy the year with this present from the TV gods!

Adding Screenshots (Finally....), Affiliate Fixes/Adds, And Some Redirects, and HAIKU BATTLES - 12/31

Hope everyone is enjoying the holidays! I am very content with my Season 3 DVD set, hehehe, and will be putting screenshots of the finale up soon!

First order of business: Haiku Battles! These have been raging on the forum and chat for quite a while and are becoming extremely popular! They're not really battles, but it involves people posting a haiku about Avatar and other trying to guess the answer! David so far has proved to be evil, so come on in and test your Avatar wit and creative pizzazz! Avatar Haikus Thread

So yes I have finally begun to add screenshots with my free time, and should have the rest of the Season 1 Disc 1 Episodes up soon. After that I will be skipping over to the Series Finale Sozin's Comet episodes, and then working my way backwards through the series. Hopefully this will satisfy all those looking for Finale screenshots!

And yes, we have a new affiliate! The Last Airbender Movie Forum as it is known. Check out the affiliates area to check them out! Also our essentially sister site, Avatar Information and Support, has a new url! They some new news (which is the point of news I suppose) on Avatar, so give them a looksee!

And I am redirecting some web pages. This in technical lingo means I am moving pages and pages will tell your browser to go them. This is being done because of our completely backwards system of having capital letters and loads of dashes in our website urls. That was a byproduct of our RVSitebuilder days. Don't worry, this won't affect you at all! Just be sure to update your bookmarks!

PortalCast: The Avatar Portal Podcast UPDATE! - 12/14

Hey folks, FTW here, and as some of you may or may not know, I am the host/editor/founder of The Avatar Portal's official podcast, PortalCast: A Podcast for Avatar the Last Airbender and I have some very exciting news. As of December 11, when the first four members of the cast of The Last Airbender were announced, I've initiated the change in PortalCast's direction. Usually we just discuss episodes, but now we are going to be the official name for news when it comes to the Live Action movie. Considering that PortalCast is the only active Avatar podcast at the moment, we have a large responsibility to give the fandom accurate, interesting, and engaging podcasts. We also need YOUR help too. Although we're the only active podcast not many people outside of the Avatar Portal know about us. Where do you come in? Spreading word to other forums you might be part of and friends outside the online community. Avatar Cast Selected! (The main ones anyway) - 12/11

I was told by one of our members on the forum, Kataro aka Katara Lover, that a blog has posted the main cast of The Last Airbender by M. Night! Check out the details here. About time we heard back on this! Make sure to weigh in with your ideas on the movie on forum here!

Seems DBF beat me to posting this, so props to Dylan on that one! And Jade of DH, but who's counting =P. I decided to update anyway cause I haven't used the Avatar News banner in a long time.

Airdate for the movie seems to be July 2, 2010. By then I will have graduated university for reference. It may be a long ways off, but fear not! We at AP have many events planned, from small weekly events to the always awesome Summer AvRen! Plus we still have some of the site to go, and by the time I get home for the holidays, hopefully all of it will be updated!

Sorry all for taking so long to edit this page. But as I'm sure a number of you noticed there have been some changes to the site. For one we added a number of more languages over here >>>>, and are still looking for more! We have people from over 100 countries visit the site, we know there are more native speakers out there!

Be sure to check out the episode Boy in the Iceberg (101) from Season One to see the new format we will use for episodes! We will be adding as many streams as possible for your viewing pleasure, as well as other languages!

Ignore Previous Post! New Fan Art and Manipulations Pages! AP in Foreign Languages! Oh, and Music too! - 11/24

We're making a 180 degree turn here at AP. Instead of Uncle creating web pages with only a few images for each artist on AP, members will be able to upload their own work RIGHT TO THE SITE!

Yes you do have to make a new account, but once you do you are set for life! You can upload all your work to AP without having to worry about file size, bandwidth, or amount (for the most part) as you would with image shack or photobucket.

So when you want to show off all your work without people having to dig through pages of a thread for the image or having to continuous edit your post for work, just upload here instead and link to it!

We hope to solve Fanfiction soon so it will allow writers, fiction and poetry and the like, to upload their own work as well! Stay tuned for that.

 

Music!

That's right, AP has uploaded all available Avatar scores to the web! It includes a number of the songs already uploaded by Water-Bender, with a few songs that have been found recently by Serpent's Guard! It features an online playlist, downloads for every song in mp3 and mp4 format (for you iPod users out there), and the ability to download all tracks IN ONE CLICK!

We at AP also have one more trick up our sleeves: Welcome pages in foreign languages! In order to better serve our extremely large non-American/English speakers community (which makes up over 1/3 of our visitors and members), we are asking members who know a foreign language fluently to submit a welcome page in that language! So far we have people working on Dutch (Nederlands) and Spanish (Español). The Dutch page can be previewed here.

If you are able to translate a page into another language, visit this thread! There we have the English lines which need translating, and you can submit your work there too. We hope to be able to serve as much of the globe as possible!
