Aang likely died of old age. I expect we won't see many of the old characters. Remember this is a new show. This is not an epilogue to the last show. It's a whole new story that needs whole new characters.

I don't expect to see too many of the old characters either, but it's not beyond logic to say that Katara, Toph, Zuko, and Sokka are alive. after all, we had the league of extraordinarily old gentlemen in ATLA, and they [particularly Iroh] taught us that you could be old and still plenty BAMF.

Bryke actually did attribute Aang's 100-year iceberg slumber party with Appa as a reason for his seemingly "young" death. the others, not affected by this, wouldn't have died so quickly.

so seeing a BAMF 80-year-old Toph is not out of the question. seeing an ULTRA-BAMF 130-year-old Iroh might be though =(

i just read on one of the news realeases from comic con that the voice director for the cast of LOK said that the whole old gaang generation has died out but there may be flashbacks or stories from Tenzin that explain a lot of things after the war. Im sure we also get to see Aang as Korra's Avatar teacher thingy/ guide in the show like Roku was for Aang.

In general, steampunk includes any recent science fiction that takes place in a recognizable historical period (sometimes an alternate history version of an actual historical period) where the Industrial Revolution has already begun but electricity is not yet widespread, with an emphasis on steam- or spring-propelled gadgets but with prominent elements of either science fiction or fantasy.

Think Atlantis: The Lost Empire, Castle in the Sky, The Golden Compass, Warehouse 13.

Everyone seems to be completely towards seeing the OLD GAang in the NEW series, am I the only one slightly leaning towards cutting down their air time? (No pun intended in Aangs's case)

Think about it, there's only 12 confirmed episodes so far on ATLOK. I don't want them all to be a compilation of hoo-ha about the old characters that's just going to a. have nothing to do with the storyline of the new series b. make me feel nostalgic. Don't get me wrong, it would be nice to see everyone and find out what they did, but I would like the series of Avatar to take its step forward and avoid the previous cast as much as possible without viewer discrediting.

I have to say I think that Kaji hit the nail right on the head here. ATLOK is only a mere beginning of what's to come, 12 episodes just ain't enough for full closure for a series like this, and I don't think there's much room for expanding for ATLOK either. Considering Korra already mastered three elements, having the show drag on for more then one season would be a bore. At least I think it would. There has to be more to it then just one more Avatar.

Re: Avatar: The Legend of Korra

Postby AvatarFanFiction » Sat Sep 25, 2010 10:15 pm

-The show takes place mainly in the “Republic City,” which is a modern metropolis similar to parts of Northern and Southern Shaolin, China, and Vancouver, Canada in the 20's through 40's, so the show has most definitely taken to a more modern approach.

-In the republic city, there is an “anti-bender” revolt amongst the people, so Korra has to settle these hate related disputes between the citizens of the city.

-Also, the Republic city is home to all four nations, most likely a symbol of balance between the world and the end of the century-long-war.

-There will be flash backs to the times of “The Last Airbender” (Most likely information on how Zuko found his mother, how Ba Sing Sa gained control of the Earth Kingdom again, the process of bringing peace to the world, the development of the Republic City, etc.)

-Rumors are that over the 75 years after the war, technology has advanced to be quite modern, but not equivalent to the 21st century electronic based lifestyle that we live upon today.

-Rumors are that there are new characters named Meelo, and Wei Bei. There might be a connection Between Toph Bei Fong, and Wei Bei because of the similarity of their names, but that is merely an unconfirmed rumor.

-Korra is similar to Toph, with a hot-headed, stubborn attitude, and she claims that she is “Ready to take on the world.”

-This series might actually be only a “mini-series,” with only about 12 episodes total. This is not yet confirmed though. It might also be released by fall of 2011

-None of the characters from the original series are alive. Aang, Katara, Sokka, Toph, Zuko, and every other character have passed, but will most be likely shown in flashbacks.

-Aang marries Katara, and has Airbending children with her.

-The original track team (soundtrack composers) are working on the current soundtrack for the newer series.

-The show is apparently more adult and darker than the previous series, but still has a fun, playful quality that “Avatar: The Legends Of Aang,” had.

-There is a definite connection between Korra and Aang, just as Aang had a stong connection with his past life, Avatar Roku.

That is all the basic news that has been released on “The Legends of Korra.” Be sure to be on the look-out for any new updates.

New Avatar: The Legend of Korra News (11/17/10)

Postby Uncle Iroh » Wed Nov 17, 2010 4:12 am

I would like to thank Red/Trip for posting the most recent news on Korra. Good to see more info on the series!

News on our homepage: http://www.theavatarportal.org

Edit: I would like to point out this one line from the interview: "Right now we are just making twelve of them and we’ll see what happens."

Seems to confirm the suspicions many of us had that this mini-series was just testing the water for a larger thing. From this, it seems the continuation would just be Korra as opposed to another miniseries. I wonder how Bryke would address this. Would they create an open-ended finale? One more like a season finale, leaving them to end the series if need be or would they bank on Nick taking up their contract again?

Korra tentatively has as much win as Shamalamadipshit's movie had of fail.

and best of all, she still appears to be a badass, and therefore is NOT [yet] in need of a curbstomp.
