Not to mention how they used Zuko's VA for the new Iroh too.

I was always a big Iroh fan, just about the minute they first introduced him. He's the only one, I dare say who could've really went toe to toe with Aang, but luckily he was one of the good guys :)

Let's just all fangirl over Iroh now.

My friend thought he was Zuko. I was sorely disappointed.

I think it's awesome that they used Dante Basco's voice for Iroh, though it's just weird hearing Zuko with a different face. But this is something that'll definitely be worth getting used too. :)

actually I kinda dont like how they used the same voice... both he and zuko already look so similar that I feel they could've used some more contrast

I too would have preferred if Dante had tried to sound a bit different for Iroh's role.

He didn't sounds nearly as old and masculine as I thought General Iroh would have sounded there. He looked middle aged with a broad chin with the same voice Dante used to depict a 16-17 year old. I dunno.
It was a cool gesture, but there are lots of better voices for him imo.

I agree, Count. But I would like an actual confirmation of his age - I thought at first glance that he was late 20's - early 30's (but then again, I'm awful at guessing). The voice does make him seem much younger and angstier, and while I would have preferred a deeper, more steady "I've long gone through puberty" voice, I don't think Dante's is so out of the realm of the norm that it makes it unbelievable.

I think all the little fan homages Mike and Bryan have included in 'The Legend of Korra' have been epic, e.g., General 'Iroh,' Mako, bringing back Dante to do "Iroh's" voice, etc. What other 'art' that you experience in this life is so incredibly interactive with its fandom. I, for one, find it to be incredibly unique and appreciate it greatly. :D

I don't remember the episode but they made reference how Iroh was strong enough to overthrow Ozai but he didn't because it would just be seen as a family squabble and it was really the Avatar's role/job to do so. Now, most of Aang's problems in his fight with Ozai (before he went all Avatar) came from his good nature and unwillingness to kill Ozai. Imagine how the fight would be if he was actually up against someone who could've dispatched Ozai as well. That's why Iroh, aside from being good humored/hearted, was my favorite character. He was a bad ass but with that comes a responsibility for doing what's right.

think it was the final battle or when zuko was prepping to take on azula..actually Iroh said he wasnt sure he could beat ozai (as the only one to redirect lightening, till he taught zuko, he prob could)..iroh understood the political implications (he never challenged ozai for the the throne that was rightfully his)

I don't get excited easily, but once I recognized Dante's voice I was giddy as a little kid. It brought be back to the days when ATLA was on TV and I went bazerks every time Zuko showed up. I may be older now, but I'm still a fangirl at heart :P

Oh sweet!
It actually took me a quarter of a second to realize who's voice it was! And then after it was over I was so excited and also happy with the way the new Iroh got introduced.
But it only makes since for him to be Zuko's grandson if Katara is at the age she is and Tenzin is the age he is.
I do agree, though, that the voice is a bit too similar to when Dante did Zuko, and it didn't bother me until it got mentioned here, but I am just way too busy being excited about the character of the new Iroh, and the other characters, and where the plot is heading to worry. :D

I wish Dante had tried changing his voice a bit, but I'm not sure the actor has it in him.

Definitely see an Asiroh ship coming up. After all, didn't we all think of June the first time we saw Asami? And we all know that Iroh tapped dat azz.

hahaha...old Iroh certainly had game..Iroh II was nice with his bending, flying thru the air like that (no blue flame or comet)..that said, i think this was a weak finale although the story of the brothers was sad..the father vs daughter thing is stupid and unbelievable..u dont just turn on family (esp in the orient with its strong cunfuncian ethos)..it took zuko 3 seasons and he really didnt fight ozai, just left the fire nation

While I like new Iroh there's just no possible way he could ever measure up to real Iroh.

But then again "Not as good as real Iroh" isn't exactly an insult...

In the finale we were just introduced to Iroh, I wasn't as attached to him as I was the other characters, so during his parts, the action was cool, but I can't say I was all that emotionally involved. Hopefully we'll see more of him in the next season!

Am I the only one that thought that the voice didn't quite match the character model? Just saying.
