My roommates and I have decided that the "incredible tale" is that Zuko's mom became Amon. That's why it's so incredible.

We're also drunk because it's St. Patrick's Day.

As Battery pointed out in the chat, Tenzin's sky bison's name is "Oogie," what a great reference.

Was I the only one who felt like that hobo and "Doc" seemed related?

I also loved that Katara mentioned that the other two kids' names that she and Aang had were Kya and Bumi. My insides melted a bit.

Two main things I loved were how the pilot made clear how much time has passed, reminding us of the prior characters and establishing "they grew up, continued to do awesome things, but their time has passed" while also setting up that there is a lot of sensible political strife going on, and Korra is a SUCKY SUCKY diplomat who relies on vigilantism, and as such Toph's no-nonsense daughter and her don't look like they'll get along.

I do believe the first KPR I was on, I specified how I felt that would be a big theme with her character...so that was neat to see that established a bit.

I just love the notion that the villain of this series might actually have an entirely reasonable political motive instead of "MWAHAHA PHOENIX KING RULE THE WORLD MWAHAHA." Furthermore, Chief Bei Fong, the daughter of one of the past series' protags, will probably have conflicts with Korra, too, and she has very good reason to do so.

Basically, just loving that the themes and motives seem more mature and thought-out here, and that we can see that already in episode one.

I still think that there's some sort of connection between the Equalists and the Cabbage Man.

Korra's facial expressions are tied with Aang's for "best facial expressions ever".

Korra's a dumbass when it comes to diplomacy. She has about as much skill at that as Suki does at making insults.

Amon though. OH LAWDS, AMON. from that ep, and from some previews and whatnot, he's looking to be such an awesome villain.
we've seen like 3 clips of him, and already we get gems like
"I will destroy you."
"The age of bending... is over."
and my personal favorite:
"I'm saving you for last."

(C) too much of a Dutch Jewish Capitalist to part with money even if I had any.

also. Ikki is a fucken troll. I did want to whack her on the head and scream JESUS CHRIST, KID, SHUT THE FUCK UP! not because of the Zuko's mother thing (srsly. fuck that already) but because I just got this super-annoying vibe from her.

also, Tenzin is awesome. I love him forever and his wife is super pretty.

so yeah. all that said and done, Korra needs to talk to spirit!Aang. take some lessons in charisma and how NOT to look like a total dumbass in everything you say.

Jinora is a bawss. Shes one of my 10 favorite characters (are there even 10 characters yet? ) anyhoo, I hope we get to see her fight the Equalists xD it would be hilarious to see the chi-blockers get their butts whooped by a little girl.
