Interesting Things Noticed in avatar

Postby sozinho » Sat Nov 08, 2008 1:03 pm

It's a great scene, the wet curve of the drill seems so treacherous, I get nervous every time I watch it.

I did notice as she arrests her slide down the side, sparks fly from her shoes. I suspect she may have small metal cleats/treads on her soles (the sparks had to come from something) to give them extra traction (or function as weapons - that's exactly the kind of thing Azula would do). Between those and her clawed fingers, she must have been able to grip the narrow seams of the metalwork to clamber back up; it's the kind of thing only someone very strong but also nimble and light on her feet could do.

yeah because we have seen azula do some pretty amazing moves like in the day of black sun how she does all that moving around and dodging of the attack as wwell as how she ran up the wall and stuff like that so i think she just did that sort of stuff to climb back up. also someone said that in the episode were they break out of prison (grrrr i csnt remember its name) that in part 2 wen they are on the train pulley thingys zuko has his scar missing though some people said that it was still there but they showed an image and his scar was gone-people said it was still their and that the image wasphotoshoped but i havewnt had a look yet....

also has anyone else noticed that Kyoshi (and the kyoshi warriors) make-up looks like the patterns on hte badgermoles eyes?? i thought that was pretty interesting. also i wonder how old was kyoshi when she started putting on her face paint??

In the episode, The Library... While they were looking at books, the turtle that comes up at the end of avatar is one of the books that they are holding.

Interesting Things Noticed in avatar

In the first episode of avatar when they are riding Appa back to camp and Aang falls asleep and suddenly wakes up in the hut, how did Appa know where to go? The kids didnt know how to fly him, and he certainly didnt know them well enough to trust them, so what do u think happened in the time frame between that? Or am i just missing something...

1. I did like the theory behind Combustion Man. As Mike and Bryan said at a Comic Con, it was supposed to be that his bending was powerful enough that he could concentrate it with his thoughts. I thought that with more development, that could be a very cool backstory.
2. My friend pointed this out to me. In Sozin's Comet, episode 4:
When Aang has already defeated Ozai, he waterbends the ocean to a level to wash away the fire on the land. When he drains the water, the islands in the middle, if only for a moment, spell out "GAY." <--- Just thought it was interesting.

i noticed that, it's very umm drag-ish?
lol all the monks used that type of clothes which kinda signify their free and loose spirit

haha good observation it's a spiritual thing aswell as a tactical thing. They where clothes designed like that purposely to capture air and help them airbend, like when aang jumped and falls to teh ground it catches the air. It's not just coincidence.

I wish my pants did that :(

When Katara and Toph are prisoned Katara sweats to make water...but why can't she just spit in her hands?

I can tell you (especially now, after a five hour workout), you sweat WAY more than you could ever spit. If she spit in her hand, she'd have maybe... a drop of water a quarter in diameter. That'd be like a firebender attacking someone with a little flame: barely useful, and so incredibly small it has little to no purpose.

In the workout I was in, after an hour the mirrors were fogged up. Unless you're like me (I don't sweat much because I'm chronically dehydrated), you'll sweat a lot, especially in the fire nation, where they keep it a nice toasty 90'F+

In short, it's just WAY more efficient.

That part was odd. It showed younger Zuko but Azula looked exactly the same as she is now. :o  :?

Also, If Aang had attacked the Black Sun zeppelins from directly overhead, he would have been out of their field of fire.

Very true. Also note that near the end of the series, almost all of the characters' faces had shifted, shapewise. Eyes were bigger and shaped differently; mouths and smiles executed in different forms; softer, thinner lines for the face, etc.
You look so tiny down there. Like a little, mean, peppershaker.

That is interesting mostly because it seems like a slip up xD.
She could have been on his shoulders to hear it... ehhh, maybe.
Honestly, without attempting to over analyze it an make excuses for the creators, that does seem like a slight oversight.
Either way, we know Toph shouldn't have been on his shoulders for a better view.

Actually, fun fact time from Uncle SOTS. There were two animation studios that worked on season three (it's possible for the whole show, but I know for sure it was this way with season three). Basically, the animation studios alternated with one doing the odd numbered episodes and the other doing the even numbered. Go and compare the odd to the odds and the evens to the evens and you'll see the similarities quite clear. Where you can see the biggest contrast between the two animation studios is with the two-parter episodes such as DOBS and TBR.

I would be willing to bet money that it was two animation studios the whole series, simply because drastic differences are noticed even in seasons one and two.

Examples: (First from the end of 202, Second from the beginning of 203)

Here, Aang, Katara, and Sokka are all standing to say goodbye to the hippies right before going to Omashu.
http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep22/ep22-1158.png

Here, they are on the cliff looking at the captured city of Omashu. There is no time skip inbetween episodes, yet they are all drawn in a different way. Ears, eyes, and hands are big differences that I've noticed over the whole series. (One animation studio uses a different shade of blue than the other for Katara's eyes. The shades are close, but some episodes make her have brighter eyes.)
http://piandao.org/screencaps/ep23/ep23-13.png

I also support a theory I have that Mike and Bryan had a studio they preferred more. Nearly the whole season finale (with the exception of possibly one of the four parts, resulting in 3, 30 minutes segments) is drawn by the same studio. The studio in mention happens to be the one that animated "The Cave of Two Lovers" (reference in first pic).
