The art of Energybending

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, so I apologize if it's not.

I know that Energybending has the ability to take away a bender's ability, but isn't there more? Like say, being as that it is bending the energy within ourselves, wouldn't an energybender be able to perhaps enhance their own physical abilities such as strength, speed, and even durability? And also, would they be able to heal?

I kind of see it like an old anime called Hokuto No Ken, where the main hero uses a martial art called Hokuto Shinken which allows him to control the energy within himself, making himself more power and able to destroy or heal others.

What does anyone else think?

In the series, the mentioning itself of Energybending is rare and almost unmentioned. And, when it is, no one bothers really to define its limits and advantages.
Although, we see Aang Energybend the Fire Lord, and after this determination, some basic rules can be determined:
The Energybending uses the energy in our body. The energy that it bends is much more basic, in the molecular sense: one who simply bend energy alone cannot change the physical form, but only the energy itself.
Meaning, changing the energies may impact the other bending (such as Firebending, for instance) and Firebending alone. It will not affect in any other way the physical form which contains the energy.

You have to understand that by the series, the energy in our bodies is like floating pools that are merging one to another. They can be blocked and they can flow freely one to another.

Besides, Energybending is a dangerous art. Even on the one, pure tiny little time Aang used it, it almost cost him with his soul and material life. If he didn't practiced it correctly, he would have been destroyed completely. Bending such pure and uncontrollable matter can cause damage more than it can help.

My opinion? I believe there can be more then one usage to Energybending, but not in a way that is shown outside- only in a way that is shown by the inside.
