A Rift in Time—An APRP fic

Postby Tera253 » Sat Sep 03, 2011 6:29 pm

Decided to give this SOB a little remodelling, because I've had a touch of inspiration.
Or... so I thought. ¬.¬

Anyhoo, despite being in the past, this will still serve as a sequel to ZIRP2009, and make references to the nonexistant ZIRP2010. Owing to the ambiguity of the character identities as well as the plot of IRP 2011, hell if I know what ZIRP2011 would contain. Isn't to say there won't be references to an invisible storyline, ZIRP2010 style. It may even make a reference to ZIRP2012 if it lasts that long. given the influences from the Korra series that it will contain, the chance is very likely.

Naturally, this story will make references to RPs and to AP shenanigans, from 2009-2012 .
But enough chit-chat. On to the good stuff, ahoy!

First off, let's start with a partial character list. Since I don't have access to the 2011 character profiles, I'm just gonna be winging it for some people.
CAST OF 2011:
Description: These are the characters that came from IRP2011. This list may be shortened or extended at a whim.

Admiral Nelson (FN)
Pan(WT)
Joo Dee (EK)
Koziwa (AN)
[Koziwa's Children, who never leave her side]
-----------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------
RETURNING CAST OF 2010:
Description: Because of the cataclysmic events that occurred in the mysterious plot of ZIRP2010, only some of the Water Tribe team survived. In particular, only those that were part of the Lunar Industries Security Administration [LISA] and a few others were able to survive and venture through the time rift. More on how they did it later.

Ahanu (WT)
Yumi Winema (WT)
Tenoko Dragmire (WT)
-----------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------
RETURNING CAST OF 2009:
Description: A few characters from the original Ay-Pi managed to make it through to Lunar Industries, but not even they were immune to the catastrophic events that went down there. It should also be worth pointing out that Tenoko was originally among these as a TOAS character. Explanation for that later, and on request.

Hara (EK)
Scarlet Kaji-Yuri (FN)
Kilon (WT)
Arako (WT)
[as well as cameos from Zuroc and RWT)
-----------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------
CANON ATLA CHARACTERS:
Description: Some characters from the actual show are present in this series, including, but not limited to...

Long Feng (EK)
Hama (WT)
Toph (EK)
Korra (WT)
Mai (FN)
-----------------------------------------
-----------------------------------------
MEMBERS OF L.I.S.A.:
Description: Some of the agents responsible for the Time Rift were the LISA crew of Water Tribe origin. This is who it entails.
Kilon (WT)
Tenoko (WT)
Arako (WT)
Korra (WT)
Yumi (WT)
Ahanu (WT)
Hama (WT)

[and of course, citizens of AP may cameo]

PROLOGUE:
To mess with time has always been a dangerous affair. What happens in the past could very well affect the present. This, however, was something completely different. With alternate universes and ruptures in the time-space spectrum, only the good Chuck Norris knows exactly what's going on.
Some people blamed Hara for the mess. Others knew full well that she was innocent, and that her massive projects were of a completely different nature. Hara's PROJECT KLNFGL-609 was little more than an advanced robotic weapon. The enormous mass of metal was built in her likeness, and had more weapons built in than you could shake an Avatar at. Eventually, the pressure from the masses forced her to abandon her home and her possessions--but she was far from ready to flee. With a robotic structure as huge as KLN, there was room for storage. Those who raided Hara's welding lab were disappointed to find little more than a few pieces of scrap metal lying around. She had taken all of her plans with her.
For several days, Hara hoarded herself inside her metal machine, which stood proudly, almost like a monument. Those that were less-aware of the problems surrounding the city, or those that believed Hara was innocent, admired the craftsmanship of the machine. It was a very accurate, 50-foot rendition of an Earth Kingdom woman. Hara had at least a little pride—she had built it in her own likeness. Even those that called her an enemy had to admire her work.

But while the masses were focused on Hara, something far worse happened that anyone could have perceived. A comet, and a huge one at that, had crossed the path of the weakening veil, tearing right through it. It seemed that the marvels and wonders of the human race and their technological advancement had gone too far. That had not been an ordinary comet, and was thus not named like an ordinary comet. It was given a name which no one who survived will speak of.
The fact that it was made of fire, however, gave rise to several other theories, including that Hara was innocent. Using several other technological marvels, the crew at Lunar Industries were able to come to the dreadful conclusions: They had less than 32 hours to live. Furthermore, the comet had been made of fire, which meant that Hara could not have been involved.
The second guess of the people was easy: Scarlet Kaji-Yuri. However, even if she *was* the one at fault, no one wanted to be caught in the mess of the comet, and Scarlet vanished in this fray. The only other group to do the same was the the Security Administration of LUNAR. [LISA]

Hara almost felt a guilty pleasure laughing at the now panicking masses who had blamed her for all of these troubles. She had simply responded by keeping a cool head, and staying inside of KLN until the issue had been resolved--or in this case, intensified. However, she was not about to be consumed by the comet either. She knew Scarlet's ways with messing with time, and knew from interactions with LISA members how they would likely escape as well. After all, it was how they had gone through time and brought Avatar Korra back with them. Whatever the case, Hara was prepared enough to know that she, KLN, and her plans for other designs would be able to avoid being caught in this mess.

"Time machine, bitches." she grinned, donning a pair of sunglasses. She began button-mashing various controls faster than an avid gamer, grabbing levers and flipping switches. By the time she had gotten her mechanical marvel to slip through time, it was clear that some apocalyptic mass of insanity had come upon their world. Fleeing was the only option.

As Hara floated through the time-space spectrum, she calculated that she had been ahead of schedule by about 5 1/2 hours.
she chuckled to herself. "and to think that I could have stalled a bit to finish that quest in Orzammar after all. alas."

As if the problems of the spirits were not enough plaguing the world... then came the time rift. For whatever reason, those that had escaped through time were all dumped in the same time period--hundreds of years before Korra's time, centuries before The Hundred-Year War. It was an age of piracy and treachery, of conspiracy and intrigue... and it only got more intriguing with the arrival of these newcomers.

But the age of time-travel was not over, and soon many individuals from this time period found themselves in a 3rd time period--one that was quite familiar to Avatar Korra. If anything, she had been the one behind the transition... whatever the case, these individuals found themselves in none other than Republic City.

This is their story.
