"Should you need to find me, you might as well give up trying to. You won't." With that, he turned and disappeared into a nearby tavern. The building was, of course, just a front for one of the more well known information brokers throughout town. As soon as Shai Tan ignored the maid's offer of a table, several large, tough looking men stood up to block his way to the back room.
"I'm going to speak to Karrel," he said. A few of the men glanced back and forth, some of them even snorted in amusement. "Nobody sees de boss wivout goin' through us first, little man," one of them, obviously the one in charge, said. Shai Tan folded his arms over his chest and gave a small sigh. "If you insist," he muttered. He then exploded into motion, charging at a man to his right, but cutting back with a hard elbow to the gut of the man who had moved to give chase. He spun around to face the man who he had elbowed and jumped into the air, coming around with a round-house kick to the side of the man's head.
The leader swung a heavy punch at Shai Tan, who merely ducked under it and then snapped off a quick jab to the man's underarm, striking the man's corroded artery and causing him to collapse into a heap on the floor.
The back door swung open and young man with long, striking black hair and a light scar under his right eye stepped out into the inn. "My my, what have we here? My assassin has come to pay me a visit. So what shall it be today, my friend? Trying to deliver on your mark, or is this merely a social call?" At a motion from him, the big guards stepped back, dragging their two felled companions out of the way. Shai Tan strode over to the young man. "You should really teach your guard dogs some manners," he said. The young man laughed. "True, but I do not pay them to be nice to my guests." The two men disappeared into the back room without another word.
