Chapter 16: The Southern Raiders

Postby starsapphire2 » Fri Aug 01, 2008 12:49 pm

This eppie was the awesomest!(LOL, is that even a word?)I loved the Zutara in this episode, and Kya was so pretty and I loved Katara's ponytail hairdo! And I like the way that Katara was mean to Zuko.(but it still was a little jerk-y) I still don't know why Zuko was so shocked when she bloodbended.

And let's not forget Sokka. ^^

Chapter 16: The Southern Raiders

Postby mediumrare » Sat Aug 02, 2008 3:26 am

I was accually very dissapointed by The Southern Raiders

1. The whole episode felt rushed and was very choppy

2. The idea of the Southern Raiders being a whole separate part of the military just for raids is dumb and would never be the case in a military like the Fire Nation's (or any military really)

3. Having the theme of revenge and forgiveness was a very good idea but couldve been taken much deeper than it was.

Katara looking for the man who killed her mother was a very good concept for an episode and the theme of revenge was somthing that couldve blended very smoothly with the whole thing. I mean i realize it was just a filler but for such a good plot and potentally deep theme, i just think they shoulv'e spent more time on it.

That was one awesome episode. I think Katara realized at the last moment, right when she was about to get revenge, that she was becoming the way Hama wanted her to be.

I agree. She definitely needed to kill him. But then again... what would you expect of a kid show on a channel like Nick..

It was the right thing for katara not to kill him. If she did kill him, it just shows she is weak, doesn't have any self control and is stooping to his level.

I agree with what your saying but because the show was aimed at mainly kids it shows that violence and revenge isn't always the answer. It somehow teaches the kids to never seek revenge in others for doing something bad. I can understand how the creators probably had to struggle getting the story to fit our age and the younger audience so I admire what they've done with this.

Chapter 16: The Southern Raiders

Postby WaterBending_Monk » Thu Nov 06, 2008 11:03 pm

Katara didn't spare his mothers killer because it was a kids show. She spared him because it was ultimately the right thing to do.

Think about it. If katara just killed him right there, would she feel any better about the death of her mother? Would killing him bring katara's mother back or make katara forget about her mothers death? Either way, killing him or sparing him, it wouldn't bring katara's mother back so why not just go the non-violent way? Going with the non-violent way is less of a burden because killing a human being can change you into a much different and bitter person.

Well it wouldnt bring Kataras mother back, but it will take out the ease that her mothers killer is still out there. Agreed that it might change her into a different person. I think she did the right thing by not killing him but if she did, theres your motive.

Postby waterbender4winter » Mon Apr 06, 2009 12:38 pm

katara really showed she is relly conected to her mother!
and zuko was serious and he just really wanted to get kataras forgiveness and frenship.(im not talking about zutara, but zutara fans enjoy!)
kataras mum loved katara and she died for her to live and zukos mother died ( not really but thats what people think) so that zuko could live!
katara and zuko have tons in common with their mothers!
