Colony: Pre-Avatar

The Plot:
The year is 10,000 BSC*. The Great Lion Turtles have left the people of the land; and society is in the midst of the advent of bending. The nations have not yet formed, and the subsects of the elements have not yet split. There is no legend of the avatar yet; although there are whispers of a man who can bend with great skill more than one element.
The world is being ravaged by rogue spirits. The great guardians – the Lion Turtles – have left, and in their wake, a flood of malevolent spirits has entered in the space where they once reigned.

The Society:
Technology exists, but sparely. The world is not beautiful; while some may specialize in the creation of new technologies or art forms, the majority of humanity is attempting to survive and to, perhaps, conquer their rough world.
Naturally, the cultures of each respective area are just forming.
The Future Water Tribes are equal in prosperity; the brave settlers who have attempted to tame the landscape have erected huts and are figuring out short-distance travel over sea and snow.
The Future Earth Kingdom is the most diverse in culture. Their huts are made out of earth and wood. Some areas are inhabited by nomadic wanderers. Some areas have developed agriculture; and with that development, a social system is starting to blossom.
The Future Fire Nation is the newest colony. The settlers there are quick and intelligent, and have started to tame the shores of the volcanic islands. They are plagued by volcano spirits, by natural disasters, by their own failures.
The Future Air Nation has not even become a dream in the minds of the more spiritual people.

Even the ethnic boundaries have not yet split. Many villages are isolated by the color of their skin or shape of their eyes, but some are still a collection of settlers that still have diverse backgrounds and features.

Keep in mind; the geography that you know is not the geography of the past. The Great Divide is but a small creek. The Desert of the Earth Kingdom engulfs the majority of the Southwest continent. Kyoshi has not yet become an idea.


The Bending:
Bending is shifting. Where people were once able to control the energies of the land, they are realizing that their control is decaying.
Everyone can bend all elements, but most have a talent or preference for one instead of the other three. Some have retained some ability to bend the energies, but most have lost their abilities, finding instead that they can manipulate the world around them. It does not take a long time for people to pick out their preference in bending – some have even lost their ability to bend all but their “natural” element. No one knows the cause. Is it because the Lion Turtles left? Some sort of evolution? Or is it the intervention of more malevolent spirits?

The Game:
The village that will be focused on is in the Northwest Earth Kingdom. It is a small, diverse village, and very new.

Name: Kallian Zerlinda Delgado
Gender: (wasn't put up there, but I have to say somewhere that I'm a Tera) Tera Female
Age: probably about 20.
Bending: Heart Earth
Skillz: Kallian's skills are in the upper end of intermediate, almost earning her the right to call them "skillz" as opposed to skills. [So she's pretty good, but there's plenty more for her to learn. I dunno how complex or simple you want bending to be at this point] Kallian is also quite acrobatic. [She'd definitely have that asset if this were pleh's game]
Hair: Kallian's hair drops almost halfway down her back, and she has very long bangs which conceal her eyes almost completely, which is why the color of them is not known by others. (see below)
Eyes: Unknown; presumed to be green
Skin: White, but with a tone
Clothing: Kallian's clothing is green and gold, loose but sturdy. She's almost always in pants and long sleeves, but this just seems to be out of personal preference as opposed to some complex, and she'll adapt if she has to. Her pants are kept up with a gold-colored sash around her waist, and she wears a much more form-fitting undershirt beneath her baggy one. She also usually wears shoes.
General Description: Kallian is on the smaller side, but has an average build for her size. She's generally smaller and quicker, and her game in combat relies more on defense and speed than attack and power. Her hair is almost always in her face, and she seldom wears anything different, but this might just be out of laziness or indifference.
[update] Personality: Kallian is an introvert to the T. She will not talk unless she has something to say, or unless it's something that greatly interests her. Even then though, what she needs is a reason to interact. She's not too concerned with politeness, both on the giving and receiving end, as long as it's true. She is brutally honest, and doesn't beat around the bush. Thus, she might also come off as rude. She's a friend for life if you can get through to her, but otherwise, she will appear disinterested in you. While she does not mind going out and about, she's not known for lingering unnecessarily if she's gotten what she needs. She likes to think to herself, and doesn't always need company, but she does like a good friend every now and again to listen to her thoughts and insights. Kallian basically gives the finger to any social norms that she doesn't like, preferring to make her own decisions rather than be led by the crowds. She's often deep in thought, which can sometimes reduce her awareness of the world around her, but she is unfazed when people get mad at her over it. Kallian enjoys peace and quiet, and would very much like to live her life that way.

Clothing: Raisa prefers dark clothing, and clothes that are simple and easy to move around in (and fight in). She wears a dark blue tanktop, loose black pants and boots, and wears a weapons belt around her waist. She's uncomfortable in tight, stiff clothes, or complex outfits, but will adapt if needed.
General Description: Raisa is tall, with a muscular build. She's fast, and a natural fighter. Though she doesn't have any bending abilities, she's skilled with dual swords and hand to hand combat.
Personality: To most, Raisa simply appears as an anti-social girl. She keeps to herself, and prefers to be alone. But the thing is, she can't talk. She's a mute. But she doesn't let that stop her. She's very independent, and makes her own decisions, never relying on others. She hates being yelled at or taunted, because she can't say anything back. She was abandoned by her parents at age 6, and was taken in by an old farmer. She is hurt easily by any mention of her past. She doesn't have any close friends, but when attempting to have a conversation with someone, she writes down what she has to say.

Skills: Sonam has mastered his "hobby" for the most part, but that doesn't automatically get him out of trouble when danger arises

Hair: Medium-length messy black hair.
Eyes: Grey
Skin: Pale white
Clothing: Sonam wears loosely fitted light brown clothing with a crude mask that always conceals his entire head. His pants are baggy with the legs tucked into to the boots he wears. His top is almost like a robe that drapes over his arms while he has a dark yellow long sleeve shirt underneath. The only skin visible on Sonam's body are the uncovered tips of his white fingers due to the fingerless dark gloves worn on his hands. The aforementioned mask Sonam wears is white and almost looks like it's made out of wood. On the side is a latch of some sort that causes the mask to open up. There's only one design on the mask and that's the lone red arrow that runs all the way from the back ending at the forehead. Holes for the eyes and a hole for breathing are present creating a slightly creepy visage and stare from the mask itself.
General Description: Sonam is tall and pretty fit (though no one can really tell cause of his fashion sense). He's very acrobatic and agile. Whenever he has to use his bending/shifting against an opponent, it's almost always in defense.
Personality: If there is one thing Sonam is certain of, it's that every piece of life is important and has a destiny. He tends to be pretty spiritual compared to most colonials and always tries to think outside the box when a problem appears. Sonam is usually the voice of faith in a group setting. These qualities and his slightly ominous appearance aside, he's got a keen sense of humor and likes to pull practical jokes time to time. He's also easily amused. Sonam has seen some unusual things in his journey through the frontier. He likes to travel and see new sights, though the increasing rumors of attacks from spirits throughout the region has caused him to stop at a settlement located in the Northwest.

Other: Sonam likes to tinker and to try to invent things in his down time.

Hair: Has a lot of hair that is styled into tight dreads. He has a long braided beard that has ceramic beads throughout it.

Eyes: A very pale blue.

Skin: A deep shade of brown, darker than most have ever seen. He has a light scar from the top of his right ear to right under his nose.

Clothing: Very loose, free-flowing attire, usually with a secure belt. He prefers to wear very thicks roomy boots and leather gloves given to him by his father.

General Description: Raunul was born in a small village west what is now Ba Sing Se. He had 2 sisters, as well as a mother and father, but a group of bandits came when he was 12 and raped and murdered all the females. Raunul was tied up with his father, Ezli, who was getting beaten. Raunul would be next. His father was nearly beaten to death, but Raunul escaped the tied that held him, picked up his dad's battle axe, and chopped a bandit's hand off. The 3 bandits ran for the hills, as Raunul's pale blue eyes turned a violent sapphire.

In the next 4 years, his father taught him the ways of the axe, but was slowly going insane. One day, Raunul was coming back from work and his father came at him with a knife. Ezli had finally broken, and he thought Raunul was a bandit there for revenge. He cut Raunul from ear to nose and was about to lay a final blow when Raunul's eyes became sapphire. He finally decided his father was gone. The dread-locked man strangled his father to death, losing his last living relative at 16. Ever since, he has wandered the world, protecting villages from those who stepped out of line. He has become known for his prowess and "blue rage".

Personality: He is very secluded and serious. He only speaks when necessary, and generally hates everyone. Raunul only interest that continues on is revenge on law breakers. His only true love is his battle axe.

Other: When he is truly enraged, his pale eyes lose their fog and reveal his true eyes. They are a deep, petrifiying blue that are known around the countryside.

General Description: She travels with a wild wolf she healed and has no real family. Zudan grew up in the woods alone after her parents had died when she was 6. Zudan was 12 when she discovered her bending.
Personality: Zudan has a personality that matched her clothing, she is bipolar and switches moods too easily. Many call Zudan unstable and most tend to steer clear of her.

Name: Kolir
Age: 23-ish
Bending: Firebending!! Lets say able to control temperatures extremely well, but only in a small area like say....underneath some kind of cookware? P:
Skills: Cooking! Knife skills! Trapping and hunting!

Hair: Short, dark brown hair. Little longer than a buzz cut. Slightly messy looking because it has grown in uneven since it's last cut. Eyebrows are thick and bushy, with only a slight curve to them.
Eyes: Dark brown, muddy looking iris'. Otherwise appear bright and sharp. Angled up just slightly.
Skin: Swarthy, dark, like a native of Yemen. In fact, entire facial structure is very Yemeni.
Body: Despite his athletic upbringing, Kolir is...slightly fluffy. He might might not be able to move as quickly as other people over longer distances, but he is naturally physically very strong (though untrained) and has great endurance. Weak knees run in his family though so walking for great distances can pain him. He loves to take breaks.
Clothing: (Idk how far north this village is I'm just ballparking it) Traditionally, the area where Kolir's village (think west of Hei Bei's forest, on the shore) is situated has a warm climate, so the clothing there consists of loose, flowing clothing, or next to none at all. The men typically wear only loincloths when working outside, especially since most of the work is done in the ocean. Kolir's clothing is similar, but since leaving his village he's taken to wearing heavier clothing, usually in drab colors to help blend in with the forest. He is fond of his villages formal wear though, which uses lots of bright oranges and reds and greens, but is too thin to be effective wear as he travels north. And, as he travels north, he has had to fashion clothing out of the pelts of the animals he has trapped.
General Description: Kolir was born in a tiny village on the western shores of what will eventually become the earth kingdom. The middle son of a fisherman, Kolir was much more of a mama's boy than his eldest brother, who took after his father. He still became a competent fisher and hunter, but he also learned household duties, especially cooking. As the village was situated on warm waters, and was also heavily forested, the people wanted for very little, and fresh food was in abundant supply. Kolir grew up learning to cook seafood and game, to recognize various plants and herbs and which were good for eating or not. He became the villages best cook, due in no small part to the fact that no one else was nearly as interested in it as he was. Much of his wisdom still came from his elders, but he improved upon many of their techniques. When he came of age (around 21-ish), he packed his bags, said his goodbyes, and left. He wanted to explore what was out there, to find new things and to learn how to cook them, and to share his knowledge with other people.
Personality: Initially shy, but warms up to people quickly. Depending on his mood, can be very aloof and slightly douchey, but most of the time he's pretty much up for anything. He is extremely patient, and pretty much nothing bothers him, though cute girls will completely ruin his cool.

Other: Yeah uh this is slightly (majorly) based off of me. I haven't done this in a while and they say stick with what you know, so.... I will try to be as active as possible, but school and work eat up about 99.9% of my time so i d e k. Also has anyone used the name Kolir before? It seems really familiar. Also Tincan if he doesn't fit in with the RP I can always change him.

Hi! Okay, I like her bending style and her hand-to-hand combat. I'm a bit worried about her appearance, in that there are very few mentions of redheads in Avatar (two, and only if you count Kyoshi and Suki), and even then, their hair is more coppery than RED. I'm not going to nix her appearance because of that, but I need more elaboration on what she looks like, beyond simply a few words. If you don't mind elaborating on her background as well, that would be greatly preferable. I'm also going to have to say no to a wolf, as no such creature exists in the Avatar world (we will be keeping with more predatory versions of the animals that you see in A:TLA). If you would like to create a "creature hybrid," (ie: wolfbat, or racoonwolf, or whatever) please feel free.
I am hesitant to accept your character until I have more elaboration on who she is. Please include more description overall.

Yup~ Keep in mind that your characters may still have the ability to bend more than one element, or even element-bending. I'm surprised no one took advantage of that, but you're still able to alter your characters if you feel you want to.

Name: Zhang
Age: 27, but looks younger.
Bending: Fire & Air
Skills: An expert in hunting and tracking down anything that walks the earth. Knows how to manipulate his surroundings. Is called ‘the fiery wind’ for his mastery of the fire and air elements.

General Description: Zhang was born to one of the first colonial families on what later would be known as the fire islands for, fire was the ‘natural element’ of most people in that area. He grew up as the youngest child and only son of a family with six children.

Ever since his childhood Zhang dreamed of uniting the fire colonials. For in his mind this was the best way to survive and prosper. However it took Zhang many years to convince his father and their clan (which consist out of 124 families and are all related) to settle down and build a village. So uniting all of the fire colonials is still nothing more but a dream.

His family had been servants of the sacred Lion turtles for as long as they could remember. But with their disappearance and the rise of the malicious spirits, Zhang chose to leave his family’s legacy and to start his own.

With the help of his Fire and Air bending he was able to defend his clan against several vicious spirit attacks on their crops, wells and village. It was also during these years Zhang found out his passion for the element of fire. A passion which would lead him to seek after a spirit called Agni, the spirit of fire, trying to find favor in his eyes. Becoming his servant by replacing the Lion turtles for the Sacred Phoenix.

No one knows for sure whether Zhang actually met this spirit of fire. But one thing is for sure: ever since he claimed to have met Agni, he did become more influential among the colonials and a lot more successful on the land. In comparison to the rest of the clan, his crops and animals somehow seemed to flourish with little disturbance of the spirits. Perhaps this was a sign?

But the more successful and influential he became. And the more people of his clan started to follow him in his ways (mostly young people; late teens & young adults).

Zhang began to develop a rather new set of religious beliefs, a new way of serving the spirits. A way defined by a strict moral code that stresses on honor unto death, loyalty, frugality, martial arts and bending mastery, serving and appeasing the Spirit world by whatever it costs.

Most colonials, especially the older ones were still loyal to the lion turtles, so they frowned upon Zhang and his ‘new religion’. They even forced the young man and his followers to build their own ‘neighborhood’ adjacent to the village and live there. But what they didn’t realize was that this separation was more of a blessing than a curse to the ‘Disciples of Agni.’ For, once they settled down. They flourished even more, were not struck by earthquakes or plagues and somehow even the volcano’s didn’t dare to touch the new sect’s property while the rest of the clan wasn’t spared of these curses at all.

Even though most still despise the what they call ‘barbaric’ rituals and frown upon Zhang, who acts like Agni’s priest, from Zhang’s side there’s only a love for his clan; his family who simply doesn’t understand the right way yet.

Some say, Zhang's eyes turn gold whenever he is 'in contact' with the Spirit of fire. Rumor also has it the oracles predicted a legendary future for him and his offspring…


Personality: Though very strong willed, Zhang is a likable person who is usually on good terms with most people. He is a very spiritual and devout person who will do anything to protect his family, friends, ideals and religious beliefs. Ideals and religious beliefs that most fire colonials don’t share with him... yet. If needed, he speaks like a ‘true politician’.

Other: Carries with him the dagger of Agni.
